Day 3, S1 - Tops’l Farm

Day 3 -

We slept in a bit this morning and then started the day slowly with tea by the fire. For breakfast, we cooked egg sandwiches over the fire and had fresh cut watermelon and cantaloupe to go with it. It was a delicious and filling start to the day!

After breakfast we tidied up our cabins, brushed our teeth, and put on sunscreen and bug spray for the morning.

Our first activity was beading bracelets and keychains with letter beads. Afterwards, we split into groups to do a scavenger hunt. There was a lot of running and brain challenges but the campers were determined! We paused the scavenger hunt part way through to have an in INCREDIBLE lunch of perfectly toasty grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup. Several campers told the chef, “I don’t even like soup and I love this!!”

After lunch we had rest time and then a wonderful bird nest workshop. We learned about bird’s communication and nest making, spent some quiet time listening to the sounds around us, and then collected items to create a treasure for birds to pull nesting supplies from - lichen, sticks, wool, leaves, etc.

We then resumed our scavenger hunt and spent some more time running around the property in search of clues to solve. The winning team was given an option - they could have a small prize for just their group, or they could choose a bigger prize and share with the entire group. They chose the bigger prize :)

One of our counselors, Abby, has been coming to camp for the past 12 years. First she was a camper and now a counselor. She has painted a picture frame every. single. year and has them all saved in a special spot at home. Of course, we had to continue this tradition!! We each painted our own frame, which we could later put a group photo in.

After painting, we had free time and spent a little while organizing our cabins and packing up before our evening activities. We then walked to the barn for our final dinner together and were excited to find pizza followed by ice cream, local strawberries, and fresh whipped cream.

The energy and excitement levels after this were HIGH, so we played outside for a little bit before settling down for a movie night complete with popcorn! It was a relaxing end to a long day!
