Meet our counselors (pt. 1)!

Welcome back to our (almost) lifelong camper/counselor, Abby! Abby is heading into her sophomore year at Springfield College where she plays lacrosse and studies Sports Biology. She has been going to camp since she was 6 years old, and has worked as a counselor for three years. Her favorite craft is painting picture frames! She is looking forward to meeting and getting to know a whole new group of campers this summer! Her favorite ice cream changes based on her mood, but at the moment it’s caramel sea salt.

We are excited to welcome Lanie back to camp as a junior counselor this year! Lanie has been a camper for two years and adored every second it. She looks back at those weeks of camp as the highlight of her summer! This summer, she can’t wait to share her love for friendship bracelet making, swimming, and sharing funny stories by the campfire. A couple things to know about her - she is a proud mom of two guinea pigs, her favorite color is yellow, and she loves to write!

Meet our returning counselor, Haven! Haven is a rising sophomore at Colby College. This will be her third summer working at Growing Routes and she looks forward to camp all year! Her favorite crafts are bracelet making and frame painting but she loves them all. She is really excited to meet all our new campers this year and spend some time together outside. Her favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip. She also loves taking photos at camp so we can look back at the fun memories all year long.

Introducing Avery! Avery is super excited to be a counselor at Growing Routes for the first time this summer! She’s excited for all the classic camp activities, especially crafts! Her all time favorite craft has to be making bracelets! She especially likes making them out of string, but has recently enjoyed using beads as well. Her favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate, or really any flavor that includes chocolate! We cannot wait to have Avery’s thoughtful, organized, and fun presence at camp!

Introducing Growing Route’s Executive Director and camp counselor, Chloë! Chloë started camp out of a love for working with kids and has been running youth programs for the past 17 years. She has spent thousands of hours outside - hiking, camping, trail running, XC skiing, ice climbing, playing ultimate frisbee, you name it! She is a registered Maine Guide and loves adventures. Her favorite activity at camp is hiking or the crafts…it’s hard to decide! She loves Campfire S’mores ice cream and cannot wait to make s’mores at camp.
